Thanks for your response. I'm assuming most generators like the SilverLungs and Silver Puppy have a current limiting circuit to prevent this from occurring and this is more of an issue when you make your own generator? or do a lot of generators not have a current limiting circuit?

If they say they have a current limiter circuit in their literature, they probably do.
And I'm assuming a magnetic stirrer prevents the need to stir occasionally or should one still stir the solution?

Correct. Their is also thermal and bubble type stirrers. If you stir too hard you will stir in contamination that is floating or has sunk to the bottom.
