by Edgar Cayce
From Acne to Xeroderma, almost any health problem you are likely to experience has been addressed by Edgar Cayce (the sleeping prophet). I trust Cayce's information and the remedies in the Encyclopedia of Healing are 99 percent common sense: eat healthy, exercise, and reduce the stress in your life. If you're looking for some magic cure, though, you'll likely be disappointed.
Edgar Cayce (Biography)
|Who Was Edgar Cayce?|
Edgar Cayce was born in l877 and lived until l945, and for more than 40 years of his life gave what is called a psychic "reading". As a young man he discovered that he had an unusual ability to put himself into an altered state of consciousness. And from this self-induced, altered state of awareness, he was able to answer questions or respond to suggestions which were read to him. In giving a reading he was able to tap a universal level of mind within himself. He seemed to have access to virtually all knowledge.
Of the recorded readings, more than 14,000 in number, roughly two-thirds are physical readings, readings for people who had physical, health problems. They either came to Edgar Cayce or wrote to him, and received a reading which diagnosed the origin of their physical problem and recommended a course of treatment. There are also recorded readings of spiritual and psychological advice, readings about prayer and meditation, and readings about pre-history. Also more than 1,000 dreams were brought to Edgar Cayce over a course of many years and interpreted by this source.
Edgar Cayce was called the "sleeping prophet" and is the most documented psychic of our time. He advocated that we learn to contact our higher selves, and pattern ourselves to become "a channel through which only the Fatherhood of God, the brotherhood of man, the universal Christ Consciousness may be applied in the lives and the affairs of individuals in every way and manner."
Edgar Cayce--The Father of the Holistic Health Movement
"In a trance so deep that he was twice declared clinically dead, Cayce prescribed treatments combining innovative technology with holistic medicine that resulted in full cures more than 90 percent of the time. "
When New York Times best-selling author and investigative journalist Sidney D. Kirkpatrick was first introduced by Nancy Thurlbeck to Edgar Cayce and his phenomenal psychic abilities, Kirkpatrick thought Cayce was a fraud.
Then Kirkpatrick and Thurlbeck paid a visit to the Association of Research and Enlightenment in Virginia Beach. It was Kirkpatrick's intention to prove that Edgar Cayce did not do what he was claimed to do. Thurlbeck gave him "just enough rope to hang himself." Now, the rest is history--as they say.
Kirkpatrick was bowled over by the huge quantities of evidence to support the truth of Cayce’s abilities.
What Kirkpatrick discovered was that when Edgar Cayce went into trance, he could access information on anything—from the treatment for psoriasis to the color of his subject’s pajamas to world affairs or what life on earth was like 4 million years ago. But Edgar’s abilities did not stop there. Even many Cayce fans were not aware of what Edgar was capable of when he was fully awake. He could not play cards and enjoy it because he knew exactly what was in his opponents’ hands. He could see and read other people’s auras. And he could see and talk with "dead people." Edgar Cayce had the sixth sense--and maybe even the seventh! And he was the real thing!! Life for Edgar and the people around him was one big bizarre roller coaster ride. Visitations from the Archangel Michael which shook the room—or gold coins mysteriously appearing in Edgar’s hand were just a few of the strange manifestations they all had to live with on a daily basis. Only Edgar’s humble and gentle charisma made it possible for those around him to withstand that ride. We have to ask ourselves, "Who was Edgar Cayce and why did he come?" This book provides the answers and much, much more.
Edgar Cayce, born in 1877 in rural Kentucky and educated only through the eighth grade, is known as one of the greatest healers of our time. In a trance so deep that he was twice declared clinically dead, Cayce prescribed treatments combining innovative technology with holistic medicine that resulted in full cures more than 90 percent of the time. Cayce could perform readings without even being in the presence of patients--he simply needed to know their names. From this "sleeping" state, he could also preview the future and describe the past, as well as converse in any language. He advised housewives, corporate executives, Harry Houdini, Ernest Hemmingway's mother (on the topic of her son), and secretly (it is believed) President Woodrow Wilson. Even Marilyn Monroe used his beauty advise.
The ground-breaking information Cayce provided on health food, natural medicines, reincarnation, dreams, and the healing power of the human body have spawned entire industries. He founded a university devoted to psychic research. He built the first hospital devoted exclusively to alternative medicine. And his teachings while in trance would become an inspiration to public figures from Albert Einstein to John Lennon to Steven Spielberg.
The first researcher to have unlimited access to thousands of pages of documentation, including transcripts of nearly every trance session, Sidney D. Kirkpatrick with the help of Nancy Thurlbeck, has written the definitive biography of a simple man with a complex gift--a man who was freakish yet ordinary, powerful yet selfless, legendary yet inscrutable until now.
